Meet Marie
An independent voice to represent San Francisco in DC
Marie has deep roots in San Francisco and a passion for education. She is the founder of ConnectedSF, a city-wide network of moderate neighborhood groups and a co-founder of a mental health technology company. Marie was honored to serve the public as chair of the Presidio Trust Board, whose mission is to steward this national treasure, keeping it healthy and vibrant for current and future generations. Previously, Marie ran her own law firm, primarily providing negotiation services, served as General Counsel for a number of public and private media companies, cut her teeth at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and held a Federal Clerkship with the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall.
Marie has led numerous successful fundraising efforts – totaling more than $40 million – for a variety of non-profit organizations, including Georgetown University, the San Francisco Ballet, Wender Weis Foundation for Children, The Hamlin School, and the International Museum of Women. She spearheaded the $8.5 million capital campaign and drove the vote to rebuild Holy Family Day Home (instead of close), a school for homeless and underserved children at the corner of 16th and Dolores Streets, and she actively works to eradicate human trafficking.
She has served on the Georgetown University Board of Regents, the StopCrime SF Board, the San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Board, Holy Family Day Home, Hamilton Families, Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly, and the Classical Philharmonic. She serves on the school wide Georgetown Parent Leadership Council and the Parent Advisory Council for the McDonough School of Business. She served on the Parent Committee of Phillips Exeter Academy and drove class fundraising to provide financial aid to 50% of students. She supports many causes, such as the Richmond District Neighborhood Center, the California Academy of Sciences, and the de Young Museum and anything that her kids work to support. Marie is a founding member of Save Our Amazing Richmond (SOAR-D1), an all-inclusive, non-partisan group of neighbors working together to find solutions to the fundamental challenges facing District 1 and all of San Francisco.
Marie’s experience working every day for the last six and a half years to improve San Francisco as a private citizen makes her uniquely qualified to serve you in Congress.
Marie received her B.A. with Honors from Georgetown University and her J.D. with Honors from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in San Francisco with Mainul, their two fun children and their adorable dog.
Mainul’s parents become United States citizens in 2015!
A wedding celebration.
Ginger knows she’s the boss.
